In 1968, Rosemount Estate founder Bob Oatley purchased a parcel of grazing land in the Upper Hunter Valley, known as Rosemount, as he believed the land had once been a thriving vineyard. By 1973, a makeshift winery had been built and the Oatley family produced Rosemount's first vintage in 1974. At the turn of the century, Rosemount Estate was awarded Winery of the Year at the 1999 San Francisco International Wine Competition and Best Australian Producer at the 2000 IWC. A revitalized Rosemount remains steadfast in its commitment to Australian winemaking excellence as one of the most recognized and loved wine brands around the world.
