While growing up in the country New South Wales town of Tamworth, Matt Koch would often travel to the Hunter Valley winemaking region with his parents developing a keen interested in wine.

On completing high school, Matt headed to South Australian where he completed hi Oenology studies as Roseworthy College in 1988. In 1995, Matt became a highly valued member of the winemaking Team at Rosemount Estate’s McLaren Vale winery. Matt spent eight years at Rosemount Estate in South Australia relocating to his home state of New South Wales in 2004 to head Rosemount’s Denman winery in the Upper Hunter Valley. Matt’s winemaking career has seen him involved in crafting some of Rosemount’s most awarded wines including the 1998 “Traditional” which was awarded the Trophy for Best Blended Red Wine at the 2000 International Wine and Sprirt Competition in London.
