Beringer 2015 Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, 1-Bottle

99 Points | James Suckling

"Must Buy - The spice and walnut aromas are so enticing. Undertones of blackberries and black truffles. Full-bodied, dense and layered with fantastic tension and seamless tannins. It goes on for minutes. All about classic structure and beauty."- James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com

95+ Points | Wine Advocate

"Containing the tiniest splashes of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve has a deep garnet-purple color and nose of plum preserves, baked blackberries and cassis with hints of menthol, sandalwood and chocolate box. Full-bodied with soft, seductive tannins and a lively backbone supporting the generous, ripe, opulent fruit, it has a decadent spiciness and great length.” - Lisa Perotti-Brown, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Wine Notes:

A classic blend of mountain and valley fruit yields both structure and richness. The tufa-rich Bancroft Ranch and volcanic Steinhauer Ranch vineyards atop Howell Mountain provide the foundation (62%) for the 2015 blend. A significant portion also comes from the iron-rich Home and Chabot vineyards (28%) in the St. Helena AVA. Spring Mountain’s Marston Ranch and Mt. Veeder’s Derr Family vineyards (10%) round out the final blend. Harvest occurred between September 10th and October 20th.

Yields were down in 2015 as a result of the continuing drought and further reduced by cold weather during flowering. However, a warm summer with almost no rain allowed for optimal ripening, and the resulting harvest, while small, was of outstanding quality. Grapes are small and packed with flavor and color, creating wines with excellent extraction and structure.

Beringer 2016 Private Reserve Chardonnay

92 Points | Wine Advocate

"The 2016 Chardonnay Private Reserve opens with peaches and cream notes and suggestions of cedar box, pink grapefruit and green mango with a touch of nutmeg. Medium to full-bodied with an appealingly oily texture, it delivers mouth-filling tropical fruit and oak flavors, finishing with great persistence." - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Wine Notes:

The Beringer Private Reserve Chardonnay opens with inviting aromas of stone fruit, pineapple, lemon citrus and toasted almonds. The aromas ring true on the palate with tropical fruit and rich crème brûlée flavors. The mouthfeel is rich and generous, rounded out by balanced acidity and a lengthy, flavorful finish.

Each Chardonnay lot was kept separate throughout the aging process. After sending the fruit directly to press, the juice is fermented in French oak barrels (66 percent new) to enhance the natural richness in the wine. Weekly lees stirring enhanced the toasty notes and integrated the oak flavors for an overall balance. All of the wine was put through malolactic fermentation to encourage a lush creaminess. After nine months aging, the most expressive lots are chosen and blended to create a richly layered wine with aromas of crème brûlée and rich citrus and fruit flavors.
