Turning the traditional Pinot on its head, Run Riot has aromas of dark cherry, spice and smoked meat. The palate begins with notes of black fruit, followed by cocoa powder and barbequed spices balanced with bright acid and soft, round tannins on the finish.
Vineyard blocks were vinified separately to accentuate specific characteristics and build complexity. The wine was then blended and aged in oak to harmonize and integrate.
Run Riot Pinot Noir is sourced from vineyards across the Central Coast including Arroyo Seco, Santa Maria, San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara County. The 2015 growing season was early and light, with exceptional quality due to concentrated flavors in our bold berries. It was one of our earliest seasons on record due to a mild winter, early bud break and unseasonably cool spring. An intense, shortened harvest began in late August, with most grapes in by the end of September.
