The red blend offers copious amounts of luscious, dark, ripe fruit that provides a full mouthfeel with soft but rounded tannins. The syrah adds length to the finish and provides a core of focused fruit density. Notes of black marasca cherries, redcurrant, plum, fig, and tobacco.
The 2015 growing season was a high quality vintage all across California. The cumulative effect of four years of drought, mild winter and early spring resulted in an early, focused and fast harvest season. Our winemakers handle these juicy grapes with care through the winemaking process to ensure their bold fruit flavors integrate seamlessly with smoky oak. After the wine is harvested, we ferment in small stainless steel tanks before aging on a mix of French and American oak for 8-10 months.
Vineyard blocks were vinified separately to accentuate specific characteristics and build complexity. The wine was then blended and aged in oak to harmonize and integrate.
Run Riot Pinot Noir is sourced from vineyards across the Central Coast including Arroyo Seco, Santa Maria, San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara County. The 2015 growing season was early and light, with exceptional quality due to concentrated flavors in our bold berries. It was one of our earliest seasons on record due to a mild winter, early bud break and unseasonably cool spring. An intense, shortened harvest began in late August, with most grapes in by the end of September.
