Captivating and complex, our Winemaker’s Select White Blend is crafted from our favorite barrels. Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier and Muscat come together in a sensuous offering of fruit, floral and spice. The nose evolves in layers, opening with fragrant orange blossom, white peach, toasty spices and savory shrub notes. Almost a year of sur-lie aging in barrel lends weight and texture to the palate, with broad, sweeping flavors of ripe Crenshaw melon, tropical fruit, vanilla and lime zest. The finish is zippy and bright, with Sauvignon Blanc’s classic mouth-watering appeal.
We crafted this wine from some of our finest Sauvignon Blanc blocks, using primarily our estate vineyards in Calistoga. Located at the northern end of the Napa Valley, these vineyards experience warm days with a cool snap each evening. Perfect for this varietal, these conditions encourage a lush, ripe character and fragrant aromas to develop in the grapes.
Our Winemaker’s Select White Blend is the culmination of our finest grapes, combined with meticulous winemaking and extensive blending. “The goal with this wine is to create an exquisite balance between fruit expression, rich mouthfeel and an elegant oak impact,” says Winemaker Harry Hansen. We used small-lot barrel fermentation for a majority of the wine, stirring the lees every two to three weeks. This warmer fermentation in lightly toasted barrels brings out rich tropical notes in the Sauvignon Blanc and leaves complex layers of spice.
